One of my favorite interviewers on TV didn’t look so good when I tuned into his show last night on PBS — he had a black eye and a forehead injury, looked like he had the tar beaten out of him. Now I know why.
According to TechCrunch, Charlie Rose tripped on a 59th St. pothole in Manhattan: “He was carrying a newly purchased MacBook Air and made a quick decision while falling: sacrifice the face, or protect the computer.”
Producers said, “In doing so, he pretty much hit the pavement face first, unfortunately. The Macbook Air is fine, he showed us the blood stains on it this morning.”
I know I have a strong self-preservation streak, but if it was me and I was a) rich and b) made my living showing my face on TV every day, I’d let the computer go. And as much as I covet that sweet Macbook Air, what’s $1,700 compared to landing face first?
FYI, my other two fav TV interviewers are Henry Rollins (on the IFC channel) and Donny Deutsch (The Big Idea on CNBC). Who do you like?
